# Organizing Presets

Once you keep more than a handful of presets, a flat list stops being useful. **Settings → Presets** gives you views, filters, sorts, groups, a dense table and bulk actions, so you can find "the one I use for Gold on the funded account" in a couple of seconds instead of scrolling. This page walks the list, the table, groups and bulk actions, and the one distinction that trips people up: **grouping a preset organises it; it does not make it trade.**

::: warning Grouping is organisation, not assignment
Putting a preset in a group changes nothing about what actually trades. A preset only affects a channel's signals once that channel uses it on an account. The list is a filing cabinet; [Applying Presets](/presets/applying-presets) is what puts a preset to work.
:::

## The presets list

Open **Settings** and pick the **Presets** tab (it shows how many presets you have). The first item is always **Account defaults · used by every channel without a preset**, with an **Edit** button that takes you to the account defaults of the account shown. Your presets follow.

Above the list:

* **New preset** and **Import from link** — create a preset or import a shared one. On a phone both sit behind the **+** button.
* **Search presets** — matches the preset's name and description, so typing "gold" narrows the list to your Gold recipes.
* **Views** — **All**, **In use**, **Unused** and **Imported**, each with its count. **In use** and **Unused** are the fast way to answer "which of these am I actually running?" and to spot the presets you tuned once and never used.
* **More ▾** — **Recently used**, **On {account}** (with more than one account: the presets used on that account), and two filters: **Profitable** and **Has trades**.
* **Sort** — **Manual order**, **Recently used**, **Profit (30 days)**, **Win rate**, **Most changes** (how far each preset strays from your account defaults) and **A–Z**.
* **Cards / Table** — how the list is shown. See below.
* **Groups ▾** — **New group**, and **Rename** or **Delete** for each group.

## Cards and the table

**Cards** suit a short list: each card shows the preset's name, how many settings it changes and where it's used, and its 30-day result. **Table** suits a long one: one row per preset, sortable, with selection for bulk actions. Below 20 presets the list starts as Cards; from 20 it starts as Table. Your choice is remembered in this browser.

The table's columns are **Name**, **Group**, **In use**, **Channels**, **Changes**, **Last edited** and **30-day result**. Click a column header to sort by it, and click again to flip the direction. A preset not used anywhere reads **Not in use**; a **+3** button in the Channels column lists every channel that uses it. On a keyboard, **j** and **k** move between rows. On a phone each row takes two lines.

### The 30-day result

A preset's result reads like **+€120.50 · 62% wins · 14 trades · 30 days · all accounts**: the profit or loss of trades that used it in the last 30 days, across all your accounts. TTMT shows a money figure only when it is in one known currency. If the trades were on accounts in different currencies, or a conversion is missing, the line keeps the trade count and says **result in more than one currency** or **result unavailable** instead of a guessed total. Sorting the table by result groups the figures by currency and lists presets without a figure last.

The Profitable and Has trades filters and the profit and win-rate sorts draw on the same history. They're a quick lens, not a substitute for judging a preset by testing it on a demo account. See also [Preset performance](/presets/#preset-performance).

## Groups

Groups are your own labels: "Gold", "News", "Prop firm", whatever fits how you think about your presets.

* **Create** a group from **Groups ▾ → New group**, and **Rename** or **Delete** it from the same menu. Deleting a group never deletes the presets in it; the dialog says they just leave the group.
* **File a preset** in a group with **Move to group** in the card's ⋯ menu, or drag its card onto a group's header in the Cards view.
* **Reorder** presets by dragging cards while the sort is **Manual order**, or with **Move up** and **Move down** in the card's menu.

In the Cards view, presets sit under collapsible group headers, with **No group** last. A preset in a group still shows under **All**, **In use** or **Unused** and its account; a group is a label, not a move.

::: tip Group by how you decide, not by settings
A group called "Gold" or "News-safe" tells you *when* to reach for a preset. A group called "Progressive TP" tells you what's inside, which you can already see on the preset. Name groups after the situation, like you name the presets themselves.
:::

## Bulk actions

Bulk actions work in the **Table** view. Press **Select**, tick the presets you want (Shift+click selects a range, or use **Select all {n} shown**), and a bar appears with:

* **Move to group ▾** — moves every selected preset to one group, or to **No group**.
* **Duplicate** — makes a copy of each, named "Gold (copy)", "Gold (copy 2)" and so on. Trading hours are not copied. A preset whose amounts need a currency choice is left out, with a note to copy it through **New preset → Start from: A copy of …** instead, where you can decide.
* **Delete…** — see below.
* **Compare** — with exactly two presets selected.
* **Clear** — clears the selection. **Done** leaves selection mode.

### Deleting several presets

**Delete…** never deletes a preset that is in use. Before anything happens, the dialog lists what will be deleted and what is left out because it is in use, and says that each deleted preset's own trading hours go with it and that this can't be undone. TTMT checks again at the moment it deletes: a preset that a channel or an open trade starts using in the meantime is kept, and the result tells you which ones were not deleted and why.

To delete a preset that is in use, delete it on its own from its ⋯ menu or its header (**Delete…**). That dialog says how many channels use it and that "Those channels will go back to the account defaults."

::: info When Delete… is missing
If the bar shows no **Delete…**, bulk delete isn't available on your account yet. Delete presets one by one from their menu.
:::

### Comparing two presets

**Compare** opens **Compare {A} and {B}**: one row per setting, grouped by section, with each preset's value side by side. **Only differences** is on at first; turn it off to see every setting. A setting a preset leaves alone reads **Account default**, because its value comes from the account the channel runs on. Compare shows values only, no money preview; use **Preview {A}** or **Preview {B}** to see a sample trade.

## Finding a preset with ⌘K

Press ⌘K (Ctrl+K on Windows), or click **Search** in the header, and type at least two letters of a preset's name. Results under **Presets** read like "Preset › Gold Tight · In use 3". Pick one and TTMT opens it in Settings → Presets. The same search finds settings under **Settings**.

## Grouping vs assignment — the distinction that matters

It's worth stating plainly, because the two feel similar and do very different things:

| Action | Where | Effect |
|---|---|---|
| **Grouping** | Settings → Presets (this page) | Files a preset under a label so you can find it. Changes **nothing** about trading. |
| **Using it on a channel** | A channel's card or page, or **Choose channels…** in the preset | Makes the preset the one that decides how that channel's signals run on that account. This is what actually trades. |

A preset can sit in a group and trade nothing, if no channel uses it. A preset with no group trades perfectly well the moment a channel uses it. Use groups to keep your list sane; use [assignment](/presets/applying-presets) to put a preset to work.
