# Settings

Settings is where you decide how TTMT trades: how big each trade is, how it enters, where profit is taken, how open trades are protected, and what the account may lose in a day. It is one page at `/dashboard/settings` with two tabs.

| Tab | What it holds |
|---|---|
| **Account defaults** | The baseline for the selected account. Every channel on that account trades with these unless it has a preset. |
| **Presets** | Named sets of setting changes you give to a channel. A preset replaces only what it changes. See [Presets](/presets/). |

The scope line under the header says the same thing: every channel on this account trades with these settings, unless it has a preset, and a preset only replaces what it changes.

## The account slider

Account defaults belong to one account. The slider at the top of Settings lists your accounts; pick one and the page shows that account's values. The selected account's chip does nothing when you click it again.

If you have unsaved changes when you click another account, TTMT asks first. Discarding there drops the account changes only; unsaved preset edits stay. Read [Saving and history](/settings/saving-and-history) for the prompt.

## The 12 sections

The sections sit in five groups. Each has a one-line scope chip that tells you whether it applies to a single account, to every account, or is a default a preset can replace.

| Group | Section | What it covers |
|---|---|---|
| Sizing | **Size per trade** | How big each trade is. Everything else scales from this. |
| Sizing | **Symbol exceptions** | Different size, stop or TPs for one symbol or asset class. They win over presets and account defaults for that symbol. |
| Entries & exits | **Entries** | How a trade opens: one order, or layers spread across the entry zone. |
| Entries & exits | **Take profits** | How profit is taken, and the TPs used when a signal has none. |
| Entries & exits | **Stop loss** | The stop used when a signal has none, and what to do with a bad one. |
| Entries & exits | **Signal checks** | What TTMT does with prices that look like typos, and the Oracle. |
| Running trades | **Protect open trades** | Breakeven, trailing stop and what happens to waiting orders. |
| Running trades | **Channel updates** | What a channel's follow-up messages may do to your open trades. |
| Account safety | **Daily limits** | Account-wide. Presets can't loosen them. |
| Account safety | **Trading hours** | Hours when no new trades open. A channel can block more hours on its own page. |
| Account tools | **Symbol mappings** | Teach TTMT your broker's symbol names. A signal for GOLD trades XAUUSD.r on this account. |
| Account tools | **Notifications** | What the TTMT Telegram bot tells you. For all your accounts. |

Notifications apply to all your accounts. Symbol mappings, Symbol exceptions, Daily limits and Trading hours belong to the selected account.

Below the groups, the section list has two boxes:

* **Set on each channel** lists what lives on a channel's own Setup page instead: when to open, fallback SL/TP, symbols, blocked words, topics, limit-order timeout, hours, loss-streak sizing and the preset per account. Its link opens a channel's Setup.
* **Elsewhere** points to the pages that own the rest: account name, currency and pause trading are on Accounts; display currency and timezone are on Profile.

## Finding a setting

The **Search** box in the header finds every setting by its current name and by its old name, so searching "Trailing Distance" or "Position Sizing" takes you to the new row. On a phone it is a search button that opens a sheet titled **Search settings**. The ⌘K palette has Settings and Presets groups too.

## Where the old pages went

If you used TTMT before 18 October 2026, the old settings pages are now sections of this one: Position Sizing is **Size per trade**, Risk Limits is **Daily limits**, Entries & Targets is **Entries**, **Take profits**, **Stop loss** and **Signal checks**, and Trade Management is **Protect open trades** and **Channel updates**. Notifications and Symbol mappings are sections of Settings, and Config Profiles are **Presets**. Old links land on the matching section.

The **What moved** link in the Settings header lists every control with its old name and new home. The same list is in [What Moved](/getting-started/what-moved), and [Coming From the Old Layout](/getting-started/coming-from-the-old-layout) is the short tour.

## In this section

* [Explanations and the preview](/settings/explanations-and-preview): help on every row and the docked trade preview.
* [Saving and history](/settings/saving-and-history): the save bar, changes made somewhere else, and the change history.
* [Settings on a phone](/settings/settings-on-phone): the overview list and section screens.
