Saving and History
Nothing on the Settings page changes your trading until you press Save (Trading hours, Symbol exceptions, Symbol mappings and Notifications save on their own; see below). Edits stay in a draft on the page, and the draft covers both the account defaults and any preset you have open.
The save bar
When you change something, a bar appears at the bottom of the page titled by the count, for example "2 unsaved settings on {account}". It lists each change as "Label: old → new", and an X on each line undoes that one change. When more than six lines are waiting, the rest are summarised as "and n more".
| Button | What it does |
|---|---|
| Save | Saves every draft change at once. It reads Saving… while it works. |
| Discard | Asks "Discard unsaved settings?" first. Choose Discard to drop the draft or Keep editing to go back. |
| Preview | Phone only. Opens the preview from the draft. |
A failed save says "Not saved." followed by the reason, and the draft stays so you can fix it and try again.
Some parts save on their own and are not in the draft: Symbol exceptions, Symbol mappings, Notifications and Trading hours (which has its own Save schedule button; leaving the section with an unsaved schedule asks first). Discard can't undo changes already saved there.
If you leave the page, or switch to another account, with unsaved changes, TTMT asks "Leave without saving?" and names the count. Switching account says "Preset edits stay."
Changed somewhere else
You can have Settings open in two tabs or on two devices. Before saving, TTMT re-reads the stored values and compares each field you touched with what it was when you started. If a field was changed elsewhere in the meantime, the save stops and a Changed somewhere else prompt opens: "These settings were changed in another tab or device after you started."
Each field shows what is stored now and what you set, in the form "{setting}: now {stored value} (you set {your value})", with a choice:
- Use theirs keeps the stored value and drops your edit for that field.
- Keep mine saves your value over it.
Choose one for every field, then Continue, or Cancel to go back to editing. The check covers the fields you changed. It cannot promise that nothing else moved in the instant before the save lands.
History and Last changed
Each section card ends with a line such as "Last changed 18 Oct, 21:04 · History". Hover the time for the exact timestamp. History opens a panel titled "Settings history · {account}" (on a preset's page, "{name} history"), already filtered to that section; the filter chips change the filter. It lists changes newest first, "Label: old → new", with the time and where the change came from:
| Shown after the time | Meaning |
|---|---|
| from Settings | Saved on this page |
| from Presets | Saved on a preset's page |
| reset to defaults | Reset section |
| imported from a shared preset | A preset import |
| from setup | The setup wizard |
| changed by TTMT | A system change |
The Newer and Older buttons page through it, 50 entries at a time. Cash amounts are in the account's currency. On a preset's page the panel is that preset's history, not the account's.
What history does and does not prove
History is a record of saves that went through the settings pipeline, read from the newest 50 entries for the account (or preset). Use it to answer "when did this value change, and from where".
It does not prove that nothing else changed. A section that shows only History without "Last changed" means its last recorded change is older than the page read, not that it never changed. Sections that are editors rather than rows (Symbol exceptions, Symbol mappings, Notifications) and Trading hours don't write these entries, so their saves won't appear. Check a preset's budget and account-only cards before relying on History for them. If a read fails the panel says "History unavailable" with Retry, and an empty list reads "No changes recorded yet", which is not a statement about every writer.
