Connecting MetaTrader
To execute trades automatically, TTMT needs to communicate with your broker account. We use MetaAPI, a professional cloud-based bridge, to ensure a secure and reliable connection without needing your own VPS.
Prerequisites
Before starting, ensure you have:
- Broker Account Details: You need your Login ID, Password, and Server Name.
- Platform Type: Know whether your account is MT4 or MT5.
- Active TTMT Subscription: Ensure your plan supports the number of accounts you wish to add.
Step-by-Step Connection Guide
1. Navigate to Account Management
From the TTMT Dashboard, click on MetaTrader in the sidebar under the Accounts section.
2. Add New Account
Click the "+ Add Account" button. A modal will appear asking for your credentials.
3. Enter Credentials
Fill in the form precisely as provided by your broker:
- Account Name: Give it a recognizing name (e.g., "FTMO Challenge", "Personal Live").
- Login: Your numerical account ID.
- Password: Your trading password.
- Note: Do not use the "Investor" password, as it is read-only.
- Server: Search for your broker's server name (e.g.,
Eightcap-Real,FTMO-Demo). - Platform: Select MetaTrader 4 or MetaTrader 5.
4. Deploy Connection
Click Connect.
- The system will now provision a cloud instance for your account via MetaAPI.
- Time to Connect: This usually takes 1-3 minutes.
- Status: Once successful, you will see a "Connected" (Green) status badge.
Demo vs. Live Accounts
TTMT works with both Demo and Live accounts.
- Demo Accounts: Highly recommended for testing new channels or strategies. There is zero financial risk.
- Live Accounts: Use for real capital only after verifying your setup on a demo account.
Risk Warning:
Automated trading carries risk. We strongly advise running any new strategy on a Demo Account for at least 3-5 days before switching to a Live account.
Troubleshooting
"Connection Failed" Error:
- Double-check your password. It is case-sensitive.
- Ensure you selected the correct Server. Many brokers have multiple servers (e.g.,
Server-1,Server-2). - Verify your account is not disabled by the broker.
"Read Only" Error:
- You likely used the Investor Password instead of the Master Password. Please update it in the account settings.
